Our Idea

The SolarStake project was conceptualized when the Helios Energy and TapRoot Consulting teams met for dinner in London. Discussion soon turned to the funding methods currently available for Helios Energy to allow rapid but organic growth. After the seed of the idea was planted the roots of opening the funding up to Cryptocurrency Investors spread.

All too often, smaller investors miss out on the best opportunities which is why we set about creating a realistic and achievable solution to this, based on real world data.


UPDATE: Helios Energy has initiated a share conversion. This is an exciting development and a stage many ITO’s hope to reach. What this means is that SLRS holders will have the opportunity to convert their SLRS tokens for direct shares into Helios energy. Full information can be found in our announcements channel.





Why SolarStake?

olarStake is offering an asset backed token secured by the installation of photovoltaic panels on the Helios Energy estate.

By utilising the Ethereum Blockchain we are able to offer entry into the Series A funding round usually reserved for larger investors and Venture Capitalists. This is possible by bundling together the investments of a wider group who would not usually meet the financial requirements. Your investment in SolarStake will fund an ownership stake in Helios Energy which is directly owned by SolarStake Tokenholders as preferred shares.

By tokenising the investment into Helios Energy, SolarStake adds an additional incentive for the cryptocurrency investor: Staking rewards tied on a 1:1 basis to the growth of the Solar Energy that is installed.

Solar energy is a renewable energy source. This means that we cannot run out of it as opposed to non-renewable energy sources such as coal and nuclear. We will have access to solar energy for as long as the sun is alive – another 6.5 billion years.
The potential of solar energy is beyond imagination. The surface of the earth receives 120,000 terawatts of solar radiation (sunlight) – 20,000 times more power than what is needed to supply the entire world.

An abundant and renewable energy source is also sustainable. Sustainable energy sources meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. In other words, solar energy is sustainable because there is no way we can over-consume.
Solar energy is available all over the world. It’s not only in countries closest to the Equator which can put solar energy to use – Germany, for example, has by far the highest capacity of solar power in the world.

Emissions associated with the manufacturing, transportation and installation of solar power systems are almost nothing when compared to more conventional energy sources. It is clear that solar energy reduces our dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
Low Maintenance
The majority of today’s solar power systems do not require extensive maintenance. Residential solar panels usually only require cleaning a couple of times a year. Serious solar manufacturers typically ship 20-25 year warranties with their solar panels.

CO2 Emission Reductions With SolaR

The graph illustrates the carbon emissions per capita in metric tons in the United States over the years. The red curve reflects the actual emissions according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration until 2018 (eia.gov). The following years are assumed to stay the same level as a simplified projection.

The orange, yellow and green curves represent the reduced carbon emissions by opting solar energy in a scale of 1000, 5000, 15000 WATTS or SLRS Tokens respectively. This calculation assumes roughly 0.9 metric tons per year of carbon emission reduction per 1000W installed with refence to region, installation and hardware not accounting for other parts of the value chain (energysavingstrust.org.uk).

In the projected years, a growth of 5% in the first year, 10% in the second year and 15% in the following year is factored in, thus indicating the exponential reduction of carbon emissions in staking SLRS Tokens.

The operations and financials of Helios Energy and SolarStake will undergo routine audits by external advisory and accounting firms. This data will be made available to token holders. Additionally all SolarStake token transfers are recorded publicly on the Ethereum blockchain.

Because Helios Energy plans to build Solar farms across multiple regions, countries and continents, SolarStake token holders will benefit from a level of diversification unique to both the energy industry and Blockchain use cases.

Unlike many energy projects that precede SolarStake, the SLRS token will be backed by a real world asset that is measurable in value by photovoltaic hardware.

Each SolarStake token represents 1 watt of installed solar power which is feeding electricity into the power grid and generating revenue that is used to maintain the existing system and build out additional photovoltaic installations. As additional Watts are installed, matching SolarStake tokens are minted and
distributed to SolarStake investors proportional to their holdings on an announced, predetermined day and time

With almost two decades of a highly successful Consultancy career behind him, Gary has a wealth of experience across a variety of industries. He has driven projects and departments, managing people and processes across multiple sites and countries. He is Scrum Master certified, enabling him to effectively lead the work streams of a start-up.

Richard McClary
Technical Lead

Richard has over a decade of experience in the IT field including a variety of roles involving virtualization, server management, database management, scripting and automation. The emergence of Ethereum and the revolutionary potential of smart contracts reignited an old enthusiasm for blockchain technology, which quickly led to him delving into Solidity.

Alex Karpinski
Technical Consultant

Alex comes from a background in computer science and distributed systems engineering. Recently consulting on SAP systems and building web applications, services and APIs, he continued to expand his skills in disruptive and innovative fields. Whether it is creating distributed solutions for start-ups on cloud architectures or utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as machine learning and Blockchain, he aims to optimize processes and create possibilities for more efficient systems.

Andrew Fornes
Business Development Lead

Andrew is an experienced organizational manager, having run a $1 billion+ per annum medical payments group with a staff of 40+. He also has extensive experience in financial modelling and analytics, contract negotiation, and distributed site management. Andrew is passionate about delivering on the promise of blockchain technology to democratize early stage investment in promising startups, and has been an advocate for the cryptocurrency space since he bought his first Bitcoin in 2015.

Ugo’s background cuts across multiple industries including logistics, food and beverage, oil and gas, real estate, manufacturing and rail. His decade and a half long experience in accounting includes stints in the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa.
